Gilbert Fred Sassmann

BORN: November 26, 1927
DIED: November 13, 2012
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Gilbert F. Sassmann died November 13, 2012 at Spurgeon Manor, Dallas Center, IA. He was born November 26, 1927 to Benjamin and Lydia Sassmann of rural Alma, MO. Gil and Janie Borchers were married May 20, 1950. They raised a family and farmed in the Blackburn, MO area, and then in 1966 the family moved to Story City, IA where Gil managed a fertilizer plant and later was a realtor for Century 21 in Ames.

Gil has been a member of the Masons, Shrine and Eastern Star.

Gil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janie, two brothers Wesley and Arthur, and a sister Ruby.

He is survived by his son George, son Douglas (Monica), daughter Donna (Wayne Reisetter), two granddaughters, four grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, second wife Evelyn, sister Ruth, and brother Harvey.
