Joan Marie Lenning, 79 of Nevada died on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 5th Street in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joan was born on November 9, 1932 in Maxwell to Ralph and Pearl (Warren) Cooper. She graduated from Milford School. On February 5, 1950, Joan married Kermit D. Lenning at the Little Brown Church. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center, attending various church organizations, baking, sewing crafts, and volunteering at the Elementary school. Family was extremely important to Joan.

Joan is survived by two daughters, Julie Scott of Reno, TX and Gale Lenning-Lingenfelter of Nevada; daughter-in-law, Toni Lenning, also of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kermit on March 7, 2012, a daughter Betty Anne, son David Lenning on March 15, 2010, a brother Bob Cooper, and 2 sisters Maxine Brooks and Marjorie Prescott.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Joan.

Chet Ryan Mortuary of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Joan and her family.
