From Nevada Representative May 11, 1881

Killed by the Cars.

On Tuesday May 3d, at Sweet Water bridge, Texas, about 180 miles west of Dallas, Mr. M. B. Sanders was killed in a railroad accident. He was running a freight train as engineer, this being his third trip over the road. The cause of the accident was the washing out of a bridge, or its foundation which was not discovered and the engive, tender, water car and four freight cars went down the embankment, killing both Mr. Sanders and his fireman. His remains were take to Dallas where his family, a wife and five children lived, and on Friday Mr. C. P. Yates, an old friend of his and formerly a resident of Manson, Calhoun county, this State, started with the remains for this place for burial. Mr. Sanders will be remembered by the old citizens here as a former resident of Nevada, and who still has several relatives living here. His remains arrived here and were buried yesterday. We understand his widow and children, will also come here in a while.
