GARNER - Paul Newell Peterson, 86, formerly of Nevada, Iowa, died September 18, 2012 at Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held 12 noon Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Hickory Grove Lake, Oriole Ridge Lodge in Colo, Iowa. Lunch will be provided. Graveside burial of the cremains will be 9:30 A.M., Saturday, September 22nd at Greenwood Cemetery, east of Ellsworth.

Paul was born November 2, 1925, in Story City, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Story County, he graduated from Randall High School. One of the hardest workers and family provider, Paul was a proud farmer and a valued employee for Story County Conservation. Paul loved spending time playing his guitar at Jam Sessions, taking photographs, touring the Story County countryside and reading farming magazines. Most of all, he loved telling jokes.

Survivors include his daughters, MaryAnn (Dennis) Buske of Garner, IA, Marie Peterson- Weant of Mountain Home, ID and Marjorie (Michael) Gabriel of Papillion, NE; daughter in law, Jayne Peterson of Montrose, CO; granddaughters, Sara Dannettel Williams and Lora Buske; grandsons, Eric Williams, Weston & Wyatt Weant, Christopher Buske and grandchildren in Omaha, NE; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Esther Peterson; wife, Barbara Ann (Harris) Peterson; and son, Marcus Paul Peterson.
