Lavonne Greiner, 95, of Zearing, Iowa, passed away on Saturday May 19, 2012 at State Center Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church of rural State Center. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, also at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to Clemons Lutheran School or the family. Lavonne Maxine Edler was born on November 8, 1916 near French Grove in rural State Center, Iowa. She was the daughter of William L. and Adeline B. (Kasischke) Edler. Lavonne attended country school, St John’s parochial school and then went to high school in State Center graduating with the class of 1934. Lavonne was asked to work at the Central State Bank in State Center following graduation which she did until she was united in marriage to Edward J. Greiner on January 29, 1947 in the parsonage of the St. John Lutheran Church. After marriage she became a dedicated farm wife and mother on a farm southwest of Zearing. She and her husband loved to travel. They had the opportunity to visit all of the states and abroad but the most important thing in her life was her family. Lavonne had been a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was active in the Ladies Aid.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Merikay (Howard) Hennis of Marshalltown, Marlys Hindman of Ames, Iowa and Arden (Ronna) Greiner of Zearing, Iowa; her grandchildren: Leisha (Monte) Eaton, Ryan (Cammy) Hennis, Regan (Susan) Hennis, Evan Hennis, Chelcee (Nick) McCulley, Traye Hindman, Beau (Jenn) Hindman, David Greiner and Kristine Greiner; her great-grandchildren: Alex, Alivia, and Owen Eaton, Eva and Lillian Hennis, and Clare Hennis; her brother Orville Edler of Webster City, Iowa; sisters-in-law Dorothy Edler of Zearing, Iowa and Lillie Edler of Mitchellville, Iowa.

Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents William and Adeline Edler, her husband Edward in 1992, her grandson Michael Greiner, her brother Arlind Edler and sister-in-law Marian Edler.
