Richard G. Kennedy
May 5, 1935 - December 15, 2010

Richard Gene Kennedy, 75 of Kelley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, December 20 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley, of which he was a member, with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will follow in the Kelley Community Cemetery.

Richard was born on May 5, 1935 in Kelley to Howard LeRoy and Gladys (Peterson) Kennedy. On May 11, 1961, he married Patricia A. Montegna in Columbia, MO. He was a self-employed welder. He was a member of the Westory Volunteer Kelley Fire Department. He enjoyed metal detecting, inventing and spending time with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his wife Pat Kennedy (of 49 years) of Kelley; 2 sons, Rick (Kris) Kennedy and Russell (Barbara) Kennedy all of Huxley; a daughter Rachel (Donald) Klein of Nevada; 5 grandchildren Chad, Cassie, Ryan, Julia, and Logan; 4 brothers, Marvin (Alberta) Kennedy, Donald (Antoinette) Kennedy, Herman (Barbara) Kennedy, all of Kelley and John (Velma) Kennedy of Ames; a sister, Doris Stark of Kelley; and sister-in-law Lorraine Kennedy of Kelley.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Shirley, sister, Ruth Joan Montegue and brother Lawrence Kennedy on April 15, 2010.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19 with the family present from 6-8 p.m. again at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.

Service:

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, December 20 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley, of which he was a member, with Pastor David Burling officiating.

Cemetery:

Burial will follow in the Kelley Community Cemetery in Kelley.
