E.E. Loan
December 29, 1919 - December 20, 2010

E. E. "Duff" Loan, 90 of Nevada died at his residence on Monday, December 20, 2010. A Celebration of his Life will be held 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, December 23 at the Indian Creek Country Club.

E.E. was born on December 29, 1919 in Cedar Rapids to William Henry and Grace (Morford) Loan. He was a graduate of Colo High School and attended the University of Iowa, where he played football. "Duff" served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. On February 1, 1944, he married Evelyn Jean Gabrielson in Story City. Throughout his successful career, E.E. owned various businesses and was involved in agriculture. He was a member of the Indian Creek Country Club for 45 years (serving as President twice), Story County Republican Chairman, Story County Red Cross Chairman, Twentieth Century Club, 50+ year member of both the Shrine Temple of Cedar Rapids and Masonic Temple Blue Lodge #112 in Mt. Vernon. "Duff" also served on the Board of the Exchange State Bank and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.

E.E. is survived by his wife, Evelyn J. Loan of Nevada; 2 daughters, Stephanie (David F.) Anderson of Nevada and Susan (G.L.) Hoffman of Wayzata, MN; 6 grandchildren Lisa (Chris) Nady, Brian (Joanna) Anderson, Jeff (Robbie) Anderson, Gavin (Lori) Hoffman, Greg (Molly) Anderson, and Marin (Jeff) Kemnitz; 10 great grandchildren.
E.E. was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

A memorial fund has been established in E.E.'s name for the Story Medical Endowment Foundation and Youth and Shelter Services.

A Celebration of "Duff's" Life will be held 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, December 23 at the Indian Creek Country Club 63012 260th Street in Nevada.
