Ruth M. Stark
June 13, 1926 - February 26, 2011

Ruth M. Stark, 84 of Boone, formerly of Nevada joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 26, 2011 at Westhaven Community in Boone. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1110 11th Street in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1 with the family present after 5:00 p.m. again at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Ruth was born on June 13, 1926 in Story City to Arthur and Mabel (Oswalt) Tesdall. She married John P. Stark on February 12, 1946 in Fort Smith, AR. John was a long time Story County Sheriff and they loved going to state sheriffs' and deputies' and national sheriffs' conventions together where they had many friends.

Ruth was a homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends. Her chocolate chip cookies, fresh or frozen, were always a hit. Ruth and John loved playing cards. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada and the St. Frances Study Club. Ruth lived in Nevada until September of 2004 when she moved to Westhaven Community in Boone.

She is survived by two children, Paul Stark and Terry (Anne) Stark, daughter-in-law Trudi Stark, all of Nevada; son-in-law Steve Rentschler of Boone; seven grandchildren, Steven (Lisa) Ray and Michele (Kevin) Porter of Boone, Melissa and Matt Stark (Heather McDowell) of Nevada, Teran Stark of New York City, Danny and Katie Stark of Nevada; five great-grandchildren Britney and Brandon Hefler, Megan Payne and Miranda Richmann of Boone, and Kinnick Stark of Nevada; three sisters Marjorie (Jim) Dale of Story City, Leota Berg of Jewell, Joann Adair of Webster City; brother Eugene Tesdall of Story City, as well as many nieces, nephews, and relatives on John's side of the family. Ruth will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and especially her close friend and roommate at Westhaven, Lucille Sterner.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John on December 8, 1997, daughter Pauline Rentschler on February 18, 2007, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the Nevada American Legion Post #48 Flag Fund.
Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Ruth and her family.
Service:

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1110 11th Street in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating.

Cemetery:

Burial will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery immediately following the funeral mass.
