William Charles Brockmeier
October 8, 1929 - October 17, 2011

William Charles Brockmeier, 82 of Ames died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home in Ames. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial of the cremains will be held at the Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City, MO at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church lounge.

Bill was born on October 8, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Theodore Henry and Lydia A. (Lange) Brockmeier. He was a 1947 graduate of Kirkwood High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. On May 8, 1954, Bill married Ruth Marie Bosch in Jefferson City, MO. He retired in 1993 from Harmon Industries. Bill and Ruth resided in Missouri, Florida, and Arizona before recently moving to Ames. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Bill was an avid coin and stamp collector. He enjoyed traveling, music, golfing, and camping. Bill will be remembered for his great patience.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years Ruth of Ames; 2 sons, Gregory (Annie) Brockmeier of Lake St. Louis, MO and Bradford (Patty) Brockmeier of Moberly, MO; a daughter Susan Brockmeier (David Alt) of Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Brockmeier of High Springs, FL; 8 grandchildren Bryan Brockmeier, Kevin Brockmeier, Patrick Alt, Laura Alt, Clifford Brockmeier, Dustin Brockmeier, Emily Brockmeier, and William Brockmeier; 2 great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a son Thomas Brockmeier in 1997 and a brother Theodore W. Brockmeier in 1996.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Bill for the Lutheran World Relief or the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
