Donald William Kennedy
February 22, 1934 - December 15, 2011

Donald William Kennedy, 77 of Kelley passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20 in the Bethany Lutheran Church, 609 Giddings Street in Kelley with the Rev. Dr. Brad Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Don was born on February 22, 1934 in Kelley to Howard L. and Gladys E. (Peterson) Kennedy. He served in the U.S. Army. On September 12, 1964, Don married Antoinette M. Montegna in Centerville, IA. He had been employed at the Froning and Deppe Grain Elevator and also worked as a truck driver and farmer. Don was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and served on the Westory Volunteer Kelley Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, raising livestock and gardening.

Don is survived by his wife Antoinette; 2 sons, Kevin Kennedy and Anthony Kennedy, all of Kelley; 2 daughters, Carol Kennedy of West Des Moines and Cathy (Duane) Carpenter of Slater; 4 grandchildren Sabrina Kennedy, Angelina White, Shanae and Shane Carpenter; 3 brothers, Marvin (Alberta) Kennedy of Kelley, John (Velma) Kennedy of Ames and Herman (Barbara) Kennedy of Kelley; a sister, Doris Stark of Kelley; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kennedy and Pat Kennedy, both of Kelley.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Shirley, a sister Ruth Joan Montegue, and 2 brothers Lawrence Kennedy on April 15, 2010 and Richard Kennedy on December 15, 2010.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Don.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Don and his family.
