Francine Anderson
October 1, 1923 - December 5, 2010Francine Anderson age 87, of Ames, died Sunday December 5, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, December 9 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames.
Francine Andrews was born October 1, 1923, near New Sharon in Mahaska County, Iowa the daughter of Herbert and Minnie (Patterson) Andrews. She graduated from Lacey High School and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, before graduating from Drake in 1964 with a degree in education. She married Robert J. Anderson on January 19, 1947 in Oskaloosa. The couple resided in Ames, Marshalltown, and Cedar Falls, before returning to Ames in 1957. Francine was a substitute teacher in Ames High School for many years. Francine was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed all sports; she also enjoyed family genealogy, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing bridge in several Ames bridge groups.
Survivors include her husband Bob Anderson of Ames, her children, Steve Anderson of Langley, WA, Michael (Linda) Anderson of Chicago, IL and Candy (John) Matheson of Hoffman Estates, IL, one sister, Sally Johnson of Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
