Karen Kay Bath
January 8, 1952 - April 18, 2011Karen Kay Bath of Parkville, Maryland, formerly of Ames, Iowa, died at her home on April 18, 2011 of an apparent heart attack. She was born on January 8, 1952, to John and Virginia (Ginger) Bath and grew up in Ames where she graduated from Ames High School in 1970 and finished her education at Iowa State University. She lived briefly in Corvallis, Oregon before returning to Ames and then on to Baltimore where she lived the rest of her life. She worked for London Fog Corporation as the Accounts Receivable Manager for over 20 years before joining Black & Decker in 1995. She was a Credit Administration Manager there at the time of her death. Karen was a member of the National Association of Credit Management and the Credit Research Foundation.
She is survived by her father, John Bath of Ames, brother, Gary (Carol) Bath of Gainesville, GA, sister Betsy (Carlos) Jayne of Des Moines, nieces Hope (Shawn) Adamski, Jenny Bath and her partner Beth Rogers, Angela (Jeff) Ihry, and Lisa (Mike) Krugler, nephews Addison Bath and Michael Armstrong and his fiancée Sasha Mangrum, seven great-nephews, Kash Adamski, Jared, Connor, Max and Jack Ihry, Shawn and Peyton Krugler and one great-niece, Ashlyn Krugler, as well as many cousins and close friends who she considered part of her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, and her faithful cat, Midnight. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, friend and employee. Her quick wit and sense of humor blossomed around family and friends and will be the source of many happy memories. The love and generosity she showed to all who were part of her life will be forever remembered.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, April 27th at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames where the family will be present from 5 - 7 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, April 28, at the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Ames at 6th & Kellogg. Her life will also be celebrated in Parkville, Maryland, on Sunday, May 1st at 3:30 P.M. at the Hiss United Methodist Church, 8700 Harford Rd. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Special Olympics, or the Animal Rescue League in your area, or the charity of your choice.
