Dean Stanton Kloock
January 7, 1924 - November 24, 2011

Dean Stanton Kloock age 87, of Ames died Thursday, Nov. 24, at The Waterford surrounded by his family. A celebration of life memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday Nov.27, at Bethesda Lutheran Church with the family receiving friends at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov.27 in the Commons Area. Dean donated his body to the University of Des Moines.

Dean was born January 7, 1924, the son of Otto J. and Carolyn Kloock in Tenold, Iowa. He graduated from Garner High School in 1941. In 1947, Dean graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Dairy Industry. He was a WW II Veteran enlisting in 1943 in the US Army serving in Company B of the 66th Panther Division and concluded his service in 1946.

Dean married Dorothy Missal May 25, 1947 in Garner, Iowa. He managed the creamery in Fredericksburg and Brooklyn and concluded his career at Mid-America Dairymen retiring in 1986. Dean received many honors in the dairy business being named in 1957 The State Champion Butter Maker at the Iowa State Fair and in 1959 The National Butter Maker at the National Cattle Congress. He and Dorothy enjoyed Holiday Lake where they lived for many years before moving to Ames in 1993 to follow their beloved Cyclones. Dean enjoyed golf, duck hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the Brooklyn American Legion, Bethesda Lutheran Church and Ballard Country Club.

Dean is survived by his wife Dorothy of Ames; sons, Danny (Glynace) Kloock of Omaha and David (Kim St. Pierre) Kloock of Urbandale; three grandchildren: Zachary (Mickelle) Kloock, Nathan (Adrienne) Kloock and Kirsten(Victor Ha) Kloock; and three great grandchildren: Addison, Mickinlee, and Nora.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Delores Shannon.
