Wayne Robert Moore
February 5, 1919 - January 29, 2012

Wayne Robert Moore, age 92, died Sunday January 29, 2012, at the Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa. A private burial service was held, February 3, 2012 at Iowa State University Cemetery. A. celebration of Wayne's life will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at The Gateway Center in Ames with a short presentation at 2:30 p.m. .

Wayne was born February 5, 1919 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Scott and Belle Moore. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1942, Wayne joined the U.S. Military and served in both World War II and the Korean War. After the war, Wayne returned to Ames and to Iowa State University, where he served both the University and the community in many capacities for over 60 years. Wayne held the position of Vice President for Business and Finance at Iowa State University for 18 years and then served as Vice President for Planning and Development for another 5 years.

Wayne married Catherine Mary Hansuld on June 25, 1955, in Ontario, Canada. The two were married for over 40 years until Mary's death in1998. Wayne and Mary had three children, Ginevera, Michael, and Donna. Wayne is survived by his sister, Sheila Pomeroy of Collinsville, Illinois, his children and their spouses, Ginevera Moore and Mark McGrory of Leawood, Kansas, Michael and Laura Moore of Douglasville, Georgia and Donna Moore and Jim Richardson of Webster City, Iowa. Wayne is also survived by his grandson Matthew McGrory of Leawood, Kansas, four step grandchildren, Alex Knox of Douglasville, Georgia, Jessica Knox of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Andrew Richardson of Muncie, Indiana, and Adam Richardson of Webster City, Iowa, six step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Mary, brother Keith Moore, and his parents Scott and Belle Moore. Wayne's kind heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed.

Memorials may be directed to ISU Foundation Research Park and Wesley Hospice Care.
