Roberta Darlene Boozell

Colo, Iowa

Roberta “Darlene” Boozell, 79, of Colo, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at her home.

Darlene was born November 3, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Reverends Burton and Edith (Boyce) Morris. She was united in marriage to Irven Boozell on November 25, 1950 in Chillicothe, Missouri. Darlene was a homemaker and had also worked at Oak Park Nursing Home in Nevada. She was affiliated with the Colo United Methodist Church and a member of the UMW Rebecca’s Circle. Darlene had been a member of the Nevada Assembly of God Church for many years where she taught Sunday School and served as the pianist. Darlene’s love for the Lord was evident to all she met. Her most precious gift in life were her husband, family, and her little dog, Sadie.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Irven, of Colo, Iowa; five daughters: Vickie Fredregill of Colo, Iowa, Kathy (Mark) Larsen of Nevada, Iowa, Deb (Komer) Johnson of Nevada, Iowa, Cindy (Michael) Sparks of Nevada, Iowa, Shirley (Bill) McNeece of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Richard Morris of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; and two sisters: Delores Hemminger of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, and Marilyn Danze of Des Moines, Iowa.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Julie Ann Boozell in 1990; a son-in-law: Jerry Fredregill; two grandsons: Joshua Michael Fertig, Kevin Alton Johnson; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at the Colo United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Darlene Boozell Memorial Fund.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
