Betty Mae (Young) Link, 80, of Nevada died Monday, December 12, 2011 at Rolling Green Care Center in Nevada.

Betty Mae (Young) Link was born May 29, 1931, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Hilda Young. Betty grew up in Ames, Iowa, and graduated from Ames High School. Betty was united in marriage June 24, 1949 to Dale Link at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Betty and Dale farmed near Ames for four years, then moved to Shipley, Iowa, where they farmed until 1988. Betty enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling and her grandchildren. Betty was best known for baking cookies and especially enjoyed sharing her baked goods with friends and family. She won awards at the Iowa State Fair for her cookies, gingerbread houses and crocheting. An entire generation of Nevada High School students (and many from Ames) loved Grandma Link cookies, which she encouraged her grandchildren to share.

Betty is survived by her husband, Dale, of Nevada; three children: Rollie (Denise) Link of Ames, Deb (Steve) Jennings of Nevada, Carl (Stacie) Link of Cambridge; eight grandchildren: Derek (Cara) Jennings of Davenport, David (Sara) Jennings of Sycamore, IL, Betsy (Jeff) Happe of Nevada, Amos (Cassie) Link of Nevada, Anna Link of Ames, Alisa Link of Des Moines,, Jonathan Link of New York City, NY, and Emma Link of Canajoharie, NY; and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and an infant son, Kenneth Ray Link.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM Friday, and continue until the start of the Memorial Service.

Private inurnment services will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rolling Green Village Remodeling Fund and/or to the Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
