Obituary

Eva Carlson, 90, of Story City, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Bethany Manor. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, with Pastor Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Eva Carlson was born February 11, 1921 in Willow Township, northeast of Coon Rapids, to Henry and Minnie (Lucht) Guritz. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1939. She married Harold Carlson on October 1, 1966. They retired from John Deere Ankeny Works in 1978. Following retirement, they made their home in Twin Falls, Idaho until 1986, when they returned to Ankeny, where they lived at Maple Lodge, until 2007.

She is survived by a daughter, Sue (Gary) Trampel, of Story City; son, Tim Carlson, of Polk City; three grandchildren, Malissa (Chris) Juni, of Grinnell, Malinda (Brad) Scheideman, of Hampton, and Tim (Jill) Carlson, Jr., of Cape Coral, FL; eight great grandchildren; three nieces, Evelyn (Al) Wentworth, of Englewood, CO, Betty Harmon, of Minneapolis, MN, and Carolyn Carson, of Carroll; and two nephews, Paul (Diane) Guritz, Sac City, and Donald (Jan) Pevestorf, of Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; sisters, Iva and Amanda Pevestorf; and brother, Edward Guritz.
