Delbert C. Fagerland
BORN: March 16, 1931
DIED: January 3, 2011
LOCATION: Bloomington, Illinois
Delbert C. Fagerland was born March 16, 1931 in Roland, Iowa the son of Conrad A. and Jullath Hoversten Fagerland. He married Doris JoAnn McGonigle on September 3, 1955 in Roland, Iowa. Delbert was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Illinois. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was active in the American Legion. Delbert was an avid pencil collector and was a member of the American Pencil Collectors Society. In the Bloomington area he had worked at Corn Belt Lumber, West Side Lumber and Alexander Lumber Company. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and going to his grandchildren’s activities. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Delbert passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at Heartland Health Care in Normal, Illinois at 79 years of age.
Delbert is survived by his wife Doris of Bloomington; three children, Julie Gabaldo of Normal, Kirk (Norma) Fagerland of Bloomington, and Mark (Kathy) Fagerland of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Christoph, Trudie, Lauren, Matthew, Camren, Emma and Ethen. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Craig A. Fagerland; a brother, Conroy Fagerland; and a sister, Doretta Johnson.
The family suggest memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Illinois or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
