Letha Mae Hogg

BORN: December 1, 1919

DIED: June 14, 2011

LOCATION: Cambridge, Iowa

Letha Mae (Kelley) Hogg went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2011, at her home in Cambridge, IA. Letha was the daughter of John William and Rhoda M. (Haynes) Kelley. She was born on December 1, 1919 in Putnam County, MO. Letha was united in marriage December 1, 1940 to Farris D. Hogg by Aubrey Collins in Worthington, MO. The couple farmed in Putnam County, MO until 1946 when they moved to Ottumwa, IA. Letha sought to share her faith and was active at North Court Baptist Church for 44 years in several ministries: teaching Sunday School, leading Ladies Group, and being a devoted deacon’s wife. In 1990, Letha and Farris moved to Cambridge, IA to be closer to family. There she continued her faithful service to the Lord at Faith Baptist Church, Cambridge, IA.

Letha attended Low Ground School, Putnam County, MO through 8th grade. Letha received her GED from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA 1976 and obtained her Certified Nurses Aid Certificate from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA. She worked for Sunny Slope in Ottumwa, from 1973 until 1990. After moving to Cambridge, IA Letha substituted for the kitchen staff at Ballard Community Schools at Cambridge, IA.
Letha wanted to share, “As I Christian, I anticipate and look forward to an eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ and saved loved ones. Looking for that Blessed Hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” We rejoice to know that Letha is with the Lord, and this separation is but temporary.

Letha is survived by three daughters & three son-in-laws: Stephen & Evelyn (Hogg) Stilwell of Trujillo, Peru, South America, Richard & Phyllis (Hogg) Scott of Cambridge, IA, and Andrew & Wanda (Hogg) Barnes of Paris, France. She has ten Grandchildren: David (Kandie) Stilwell, Jonathan (Julie) Stilwell, Jeffery (Kimberly) Stilwell, Steven D (Molly) Stilwell, Melody (Eric) Scott Riskedahl, Martha Stilwell, Rose Marie Scott, Daniel Scott, Michelle Barnes, Kelley (Heather) Scott. Letha is survived by 1 brother-in-law, Wayne Shelton, great-grandchildren, 3 nephews and 7 nieces.

Letha is proceeded in death by husband Farris D. Hogg, parents, 5 sisters, 5 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, 4 nephews and 3 nieces.

Local services will be held at Letha’s home church of Faith Baptist Church of Cambridge, IA (401 2nd Street). Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00 am, Pastor John Hartog III to officiate. Interim Service will held at 3:30pm in Lone Pine Cemetery, Putnam County, MO.
