Esther Ruth Hilleman
October 23, 1917 - July 17, 2012

Esther Ruth Hilleman, 94 of Nevada died on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada with Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at the Hillside Cemetery in State Center. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Esther was born on October 23, 1917 in Cedar Rapids to Eugene H. and Zadie A. (Wall) Hilleman. She lived in State Center and Boone before moving to Nevada in 1933. Esther graduated from Nevada High School as Valedictorian in 1935. She worked for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance in Ames until her retirement in 1979. Esther was a member of the First United Methodist Church, DAR, Eastern Star, and a 74 year Charter member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed bowling for many years. Esther played the piano by ear and entertained the residents of Story County Long Term Care until
June of 2012.

Esther is survived by a niece, Mary Jean McLaury Crowell of The Villages, FL; two great nieces; a great nephew; four great-great nephews and nieces; cousins, Carl (Judy) Allen, Darlene Allen all of Nevada and Betty Lehman.

Her parents, a brother Carl Hilleman, and two sisters, Margaret Hilleman and Dorothy Hilleman McLaury preceded Esther in death.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Story County Senior Care.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Esther and her family.
