George Jerome Robinson
November 14, 1934 - July 13, 2012George Jerome Robinson, 77 of rural Nevada died on Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18 in the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 250 West E Avenue in Nevada with Pastor Anjeanette Perkins officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the West Cemetery, Panora.
George was born on November 14, 1934 in Atlantic, Iowa to Kenneth K. and Marion D. (Fort) Robinson. He attended Guthrie Center High School and graduated from Signal School for the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. George was a Sergeant in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia L. Richey at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. George was in the Signal Department for the Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railroad and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after more than 36 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen since 1960, local chairman of Local #23, second Vice President of Local #98, N.R.A., North American Hunting Club, William F. Ball American Legion Post #48 in Nevada, N.R.A. Whittington Center sponsor, National Arbor Day Foundation since 1984, Wildlife Forever since 1990, Union Pacific Employee's Club, and treasurer for the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employee's Inc.
George is survived by two sons, Randy (Deb) Robinson and Kenny Robinson, all of Nevada; six daughters, Julie (GW) Hackler of Jefferson, Lila Janene Robinson, Linda Jolene Robinson, Jeanna Louise (Mike) Holm, Jennelle (Wes) Markley, all of Nevada, Kayla (Gary) Garr of Hartford; his mother-in-law, Thelma Richey of Panora; 13 grandchildren plus five spouses; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother Steve (Karen) Robinson of Lawrence, KS.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat on December 10, 2011, a brother Keith Robinson and a sister Elaine Ford.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of George.
