Raymond Granger Wilson
April 14, 1922 - May 12, 2012

Raymond "Heav" Granger Wilson, 90 of Colo died on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Mercy West Lakes Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17 at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial, with Military rites, will follow in the Colo Cemetery.

"Heav" was born on April 14, 1922 in Colo to Harry Lee and Laura Lorene (Granger) Wilson. He was a 1940 graduate of Colo High School. "Heav" served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. On April 26, 1947, he was married to Ardis Jay in Ames. "Heav" was a lifetime farmer in the Colo area and a seed dealer for 25 years. He enjoyed cattle sales, coin collecting, taking his children on vacations and family gatherings. "Heav" was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church and the Colo American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Ardis of Colo; four daughters, Mary J. (David) Christy of Colo, Laura (Charley) Stout of East Moline, IL, Helen (Steve) Crouthamel of Boone, and Cassie (Keith) Hindman of Swisher; four sons, James Wilson of Colo, Murry Wilson of Ames, Carroll (Sandy) Wilson of Ankeny, and Clare Wilson of Ames; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret White and Mary (Glen) Presnall; two brothers, Richard "Short" Wilson and Donald "Bud" (Ruth) Wilson, all of Colo.

"Heav" was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16 with the family present from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. again at the Colo United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of "Heav".

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of "Heav" and his family.
