DIED: February 11, 2012

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Michael D. Stohlmeyer, 61, of Ames went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2012. He was born on November 8, 1950, in Sheldon, Iowa, to Dutch and Dorothy Stohlmeyer. He married Maureen Aadland on June 4, 1977.

Mike graduated from Ames High School in 1969 and from Iowa State University (B.A. Advertising/Design) in 1976. He went on to pursue a career as an award winning professional artist with an international reputation.

Mike had a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior, and he was a member of Stonebrook Church in Ames, Iowa.

He is survived by his mother Dorothy Stohlmeyer of Ames, Iowa and by his beloved wife of 34 years, Maureen, sisters: Marge (Mike) Fitzgerald of Ames, Iowa, Amy (Greg) Davis of Newton, Iowa and brother Joe (Kathy) Stohlmeyer of Ames, Iowa.

Mike is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and by his devoted miniature schnauzer, Seago.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dutch Stohlmeyer.

Mike's family would like to thank Dr. Lowell Bond, of Ames; Dr. C. Stratton Hill, Jr. of Houston, TX; Dr. Jean M. Lorentzen of West Des Moines; and the doctors and nurses at Mary Greeley Medical Center for Mike's care over the past 39 years. Thanks, also, to the staff of Israel Family Hospice House and to Stonebrook Community Church for their loving support of Mike.
