George Ebert

DIED: July 14, 2012

LOCATION: Burlington, Vermont

George Meyer Ebert, 59, of Burlington, Vermont, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Ames, Iowa. A memorial service is planned for 1 PM Sunday July 29, at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, VT. A reception will follow in the church parlors.

George Meyer Ebert was born March 15, 1953 to George Henry and Gladys Eileen (Meyer) Ebert in Albert Lea, Minnesota. George graduated from Ames High School in 1971 and then Grinnell College in 1975 Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. George graduated the University of Chicago in 1986 with a MD PhD and continued on to do his residency and fellowship in Radiology and Neuroradiology at MGH from 1986 to 1991. George was in practice at Salem Radiology from 1991 to 2002. In 2002 he was asked to join the faculty in the Radiology Department at the University of Vermont and was an assistant professor, teaching and concurrently practicing at Fletcher Allen Hospital.

George and Charlotte Sue Brody were married September 29, 1979 in Niagara Falls, New York. When he had free time, George loved to golf with his daughter Sarah, watch classic films with his daughter Emily, play pool with his daughter Katherine, and travel the globe with his wife Charlotte. On his own, George was fascinated with cars and found special joy driving his grandfather's 1964 Ford Galaxy.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Brody of Burlington, Vermont; his three daughters, Katherine Ebert of Burlington, VT, Emily Ebert of Atlanta, GA and Sarah Ebert of Burlington, VT; one sister, Barbara Ebert of Jefferson City, Missouri; sister in law, Frances (Brody) Fill of Florence S.C, brother in law David Fill of North Tonawanda, NY; sister in law, Katherine (Brody) Farrell of Skaneateles, NY; brother in law, Jim Farrell of Skaneateles, NY; his nieces and nephews, Rebekah and Rachel Hough of Jefferson City, MO., Ryan, Sean and Kelsey Farrell of Skaneateles, NY., Bethany (Fill) Pankey of Edisto Beach, S.C., Laura Fill of Charleston, S.C., Eric Fill of S. C.; two aunts, Thelma Mohr of Ames, IA and Barbara Martin of Tampa, Florida; cousins, Jeff Mohr of Roland, Iowa, Dan Mohr of Tucson, Arizona and Julie (Anders)Moore of Colleyville, Texas.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Anne Blomgren; his nephew David Blomgren; his aunt Helen Louise Anders; and his uncle John Ebert.
