Hattie Margaret (Huffman) Hennick – March 1, 1876 – August 21, 1942

MRS. HENNICK DIES AT FLOYD
WIDOW OF ORA E HENNICK HAD LIVED IN COUNTY 35 YEARS

Charles City – Mrs. Hattie Hennick, 66, died Friday at her home in Floyd, following a lingering illness. She was the widow of Ora E. Hennick and had been a resident of Floyd County for 35 years.

Mattie Margaret Huffman, daughter of Peter and Priscilla Huffman, was born in Story County near Nevada, Iowa, on March 1, 1876. On Christmas day in 1894 she was united in marriage to Ora Elbert Hennick.

They engaged in farming near Nevada, and in 1911 the family moved to a farm west of Floyd.
Mr. Hennick died July 13, 1937. Mrs. Hennick then moved to Floyd, her home for the past five years.

One son and four daughters survive: Willard Hennick; Mrs. Clifford Vance, and Mrs. Mervyn Stewart, of Floyd; Mrs. Cecil Galloway of Charles City; and Mrs. Melvin Tibbitts of Bassett.

There are 25 grandchildren, one great grandchild, eight sisters and one brother, also surviving. A son, Raymond, died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church in Floyd. The Rev. H. H. Fletcher will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
