Funeral services for Fred H. Bradshaw, 59, were held from the Adams Funeral Chapel here October 31 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Beals officiating. Burial was in the Kelley cemetery.
Mr. Bradshaw was born December 16, 1900 in Stafordshire, England, the son of Edmund and Alice May Bradshaw. He died October 29 at the Story County Hospital in Nevada.
He left England as a young man in 1920 and came to Ames where he made his home working for Scott Freel. In 1922 he and Edith Freel were married and they moved to a farm where their son, Sam, was born in 1923.
Injured by a fall in 1925, Mr. Bradshaw continued to farm until 1934 when ill health caused him to retire from the farm. His wife died one year later, in 1935, and he made his home for a time with Scott Freel and then with his son, Sam and family.
Later because of the necessity for increased care, he moved to the Story County Home in Nevada.
Mr. Bradshaw was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary's Church in England. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister Hilda and a brother Ted, all in England.
Survivors include his son, Sam, of Hannibal, Mo.; a brother, William of Ames; four brothers and a sister in England; and four grandchildren of Des Moines; and other relatives and friends.
