From Nevada Representative March 28, 1877

St. Patrick's day was celebrated in great style in Boone. Every part of the ceremonies passed off in fine style until the close of the programme. But in the evening a sad and fatal accident occurred to one Patrick Mahony. This gentleman, in returning to Boone evening, by way of the way of the railroad track, sat down or fell down on the track near the west end of the yard, where he was run over by the night express and so badly cut up that his remains were gathered up in a tub for burial. He leaves a wife and childen in Boonsboro to mourn his loss.
