Funeral services for George Waterman, who died Thursday at the county home, were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Rettig & Meyer Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Woodcock officiating. Burial was made in the Fremont Cemetery south of Tripoli. Vocal selections were given by Miss Alice Krueger and S.A. Maurer with Mrs. W.H. Warner as pianist. Casket bearers were: C. Otterstetter, B.F. Morf, Wm. Harmening, W.C. Fergemann and Frank Kimbal.

George, son of Andrew and Emma (Rockwood) Waterman, was born April 6, 1869, northeast of Tripoli, and had been a resident of Bremer county all his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Jessie Holmes in 1910. After their marriage they settled in Tripoli where he lived until two years ago, when he was taken to the county home after suffering a stroke and being unable to care for himself. He had since continued to remain in poor health until he passed away at the home Thursday, January 4, 1945, at the age of 75 years, eight months and 28 days.
Surviving Mr. Waterman are five children: three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Bittner and Mrs. Evalyn Renwick of Denver, and Mrs. Geneva Barker of Tama, Iowa; two sons, Lavern Waterman of Waterloo and Pvt. Arnold Waterman in the armed services, stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.; also seven grandchildren; three brothers, Calvin of Tripoli, Roy and Charles of Waverly, and one sister, Laura of Waterloo.
