Mrs. Martha Conley-Bracken residing southeast of Ames near Evergreen church died Saturday and was buried Monday afternoon from her home, the funeral being conducted by Rev. Pruitt of the U. B. church and interment was made in the Walnut Grove cemetery. She was a woman past eighty years of age and one of the pioneers of Story county she and her husband having some to Iowa in 1855 and located on the farm on which she was living at the time of her death. Her husband died a number of years ago and her only near relative living is one brother.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Martha Conley married John Bracken on 10 October 1842 in Boone County, Indiana. According to WPA Records, John Bracken was born 10 February 1821 and died 21 October 1898. Martha was born 15 October 1825 and died 10 October 1906. Both are buried in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Palestine Township, Story County, Iowa.
