From Story County Watchman October 13, 1905

DIED.--On the 12th inst., after an illness of some duration Wm. K. Smith of Nevada, Iowa. He was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, on February 1, 1828. He taught school in Kentucky for a time coming to Marshalltown in 1855. On Dec. 30, 1858, he was married to Caroline Stephens, to them were born eight children of which Mrs. Florence Ulm*, Perry, E. W. Smith, of Hiawatha, Kansas; Harriett Smith, of Minneapolis, Minn; Maggie Smith, of San Francisco, Cal., are living. The date of the funeral has not been named but will probably be on Sabbath next. He has lived many years in Nevada and stood high with his associates all of whom look forward to a meeting in the future where parting shall be no more.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: This should be Ulum, not Ulm. Florence E. Smith married William A. Ulum on 21 November 1886 in Iowa Center, Story County, Iowa.
