Sam Erickson, a well-to-do farmer living two miles west of McCallsburg, fell down the covered stairway leading to the resort over the saloon at 12 North First street, Tuesday afternoon about 3 o'clock, breaking his neck and fracturing his skull. He was picked up unconscious and bleeding, and was fitst taken to the jail, but soon after was removed to St. Thomas hospital, where he died an hour later without regaining consciousness.--T. R.
