From Story County Watchman February 24, 1905

DIED--A. Stumbaugh died in Wintersett, on Friday last, aged 74 years and 9 months. In 1855 he was married to Hannah VanHorn, who died at Story City several years since. He served during the war of the rebellion over three years returning home in due time. The remains were brought to this city Saturday and the funeral was held Sunday under the auspices of Rev. Nye and deposited in the Nevada cemetery. Two daughters were present at the last rites, Mrs. D. Davis of this county and one from Des Moines.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Marriage records show Hannah Vanhorn married "Abraham Staumbauck" in Polk County, Iowa July 13, 1856. "Mrs. D. Davis" was Katie (Stumbaugh) David who married Darius David, son of Isom Joshua David & Lucy Jane Sandidge. The daughter from Des Moines was Anna (Stumbaugh) Winslow Hayes who was married at least twice, to Isaac Orr Winslow and to Frank Hayes.
