From Story County Watchman August 12, 1904

Mrs. James W. Cook died at the home residence in the eastern part of the city Tuesday afternoon, aged 68 years, 4 months and 7 days. She was a native of Oneida county, New York. Miss Sarah F. Barnes was married to Zanesville, Ohio, in November, 1857, they coming to Story county in 1859, since which time they made this their home. She leaves a husband and grown up family to mourn her hoss and look forward to meeting her in the future land, having been a consistent and exemplary member of the M. E. church. The funeral was held yesterday from the M. E. Church Rev. Nye officiating the remains being carefully consigned to the care of the Nevada cemetery.
