AMES DEPARTMENT OF THE WATCHMAN

Ames, June 11.--Henry Barnes, one of the oldest and best known settlers of Story county, died at his home in Gilbert Station Thursday evening. Mr. Barnes came to this county when it was nothing more than wild prairie land and soon after established himself as the best blacksmith in this section, at which trade he worked for a number of years. The funeral services were conducted today at Gilbert and his remains interred in the Gilbert cemetery.
