Milo S. Barrett, 98, of Nevada, died Thursday, October 5, 2000 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames from a heart ailment. He was born September 2, 1902, in Burnette, Minnesota, to George and Clara Hayes Barrett. He married Lola Sutter on December 5, 1923, in Des Moines. He had farmed in the Polk City, Altoona and Roland areas until retiring in 1966 and moving to Nevada in 1970. He then worked as a custodian for Mary Greeley Medical Center, a country club and a bank until retiring at the age of 80. He was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church and a former member of Kiwanis. He was an avid Bible teacher. He taught Sunday school for many years and held Bible studies at Rolling Green Village until May of this year. He enjoyed helping others.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Lionel (Dorothy) Barrett of Shoreline, Washington, Robert (Miriam) Barrett of Peoria, Arizona, and Dale (Kathleen) Barrett of Polk City; a daughter, Ailene (Art) Mally of Lake City; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His parents, his wife, Lola, on December 6, 1997; a grandson; a brother; and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Dennis Reynolds officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Milo S, Barrett Memorial Fund.
