Roland Record: ....The little boy of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christian name Earl met with a sad accident last Sunday afternoon which caused his death. While playing with some of his compaions in a corn crib he inhaled a kernel of corn into his windpipe which finally lodged in the entrance to the lungs. Prompt medical aid was given him and during the evening no danger was apprehended. In the morning another attempt was made to remove the kernel if possible, so as to avoid an operation. The doctors began manipulating him and succeeded in getting the kernel up into the wind-pipe. The then became asphyxiated and the tracheatomy was immediately performed but to no avail, as the kernel was loged to far down. He died shortly afterwards.
