From Story County Watchman August 7, 1903

AMES DEPARTMENT OF THE WATCHMAN.

Mrs. George Cooley, formerly Miss Lola Grear of this city, died at Denver Saturday, August 1, from diphtheria and was buried in the cemetery at that city on Monday, August 3. With her husband whe had been living in Denver since June where it was hoped her general health might be improved. Her mother and a brother living in Wisconsin, besides the husband and a sister, Mrs. A. L. Hall*, residing southwest of Ames survive her. The sympathy of many friends is with the bereave ones who are left.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. A. L. Hall" was Ethel Grier, wife of Albert L. Hall. Ethel Grier and Albert L. Hall married in Story County, Iowa 9 January 1896. George H. Cooley and Lola M. Grier married only about a year before her death on 17 June 1902 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. Ethel Jennie Grier and Mary Lola Grier were the daughters of John Carlyle Grier and Jane Mehitable (Davis) Grier.
