From Story County Watchman July 10, 1903

Died:--On Friday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law, H. A. Higley at Iowa Center, Henry Funk, aged 79 years. He was one of the older settlers of Story county coming here in the early days and made his home in that immediate neighborhood. The funeral was held at the U. E. church on Sabbath last the sermon being by Rev. Urbino. After the sermon the masonic fraternity under lead of Clark McLain, master of the Lodge at Maxwell of which he was a member, took charge of the work and proceeded with their ritual exercises, there being a large turn out from that lodge. Nevada and Collins also turned out members in his memory.
