Ames Times: Mr. Truman Squires died Sunday at the home of his daughter at Round Prairie, Minn., aged about eighty-two years. The remains were laid to rest in the Sheffield cemetery near Story City yesterday afternoon....

From Story County Watchman May 9, 1902

Story City Herald: ....Freeman Squires was born in Vermont Sept. 27, 1824. Moved to Ohio with his parents when six years old and there married Alzina Robbins, Oct. of 1846. Moved to Story Co., Iowa, in 1857 and in Feb. 12, 1869 his loved one died leaving husband and five daughters to mourn their loss.
