DIED:--On Wednesday of this week Mrs. J. A. Stratton. Mary J. Mecum was born in Northumberland county, Pa., in 1833, where she resided for several years going repectively to Ohio and Michigan, where she was married to Mr. Stratton 49 years ago today, in Alleghany county, Mich. They moved to Story county where they have since made their home being among the earlier settlers in this place. The them were born 8 children 6 of whom are yet alive--three boys and three girls. The funeral will take place today under the administration of Rev. Dudley of the M. E. church of this city. The deceased was one of the noble women of our land and her good deeds for year has been a standing notice for others to imitate. She will long be remembered for her kindly ways and all mourn her loss. To those who are left to mourn they can look forward to a certainty of meeting her in the better land.
