Ames Intelligencer: ....Mrs. Mary Watt was born in Kirk Osald, Scotland, about 74 years ago, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark, In Des Moines, Saturday, Sept. 28, 1901....

Mrs. Saml. Watts died in Des Moines the first of the week and Tuesday the remains were brought to Ames and interred in the cemetery at this point.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: On their children's marriage records, the maiden name of their mother (the deceased) is listed as McCullough, McClellan, McCormick, even Allen. I have found what I believe to be their marriage record in Ayrshire, Scotland which lists her as "Mary McClelland." Since two children listed her as McClellan and one as Allen, combined with the marriage record I am inclined to believe McClelland is correct. Also, her birthplace, Kirkoswald, is also in Ayrshire, Scotland.
