From Story County Watchman September 6, 1901
The little son of Dr. and Mrs. Newman of Grinnell was killed last week by drinking turpentine. His mother, who was formerly Miss Severi Ringheim*, discovered his performance immediately after he had seized upon some turpentine of some painters and had drank it, and his father was instantly summoned. Nothing could be done for him, however, and he died in a few moments.--Rep.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Severi Ringheim" was the daughter of Severt Johnson and Lorinda Torgisdatter Sime. She was born Severi Johnson but when her mother remarried Ingerbrit Anderson Ringheim when she was about one year of age, she was no doubt known as Severi Ringheim. She is listed as Severi Ringheim Johnson when she married William Herrick Newman 23 August 1893 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa.
