From Story County Watchman August 9, 1901

Asa T. Eastwood one of the oldest settlers of Story county died at his home near Ontario Friday last and was laid to rest of the week. He came to the county long before a railway here was even thought about much less built and grew up with the county passing into strong manhood, old age and then to the passing to the great future at an age which few are allowed to reach. He leaves a family to look forward to a meeting in the great beyond. He was one of the best men and his neighbors all speak well of him.
