From Story County Watchman July 26, 1901
Ames Watchman.
Des Moines, July 23,-John Webber who has been residing at 420 West Fifth street, was found dead in his bed Monday morning. Mrs. Jennain, the land-lady with whom Webber has been boarding since coming to Des Moines six week ago from Ames went to his room at 6:30 for the purpose of awakening him when the death was discovered. She summoned help and the remains were conveyed to an undertaking establishment where they were prepared for burial. Justice Aylesworth will hold an inquest but it is believed the man came to his death by apoplexy from which disease he has been a sufferer for some time and that the jury will so find. Webber leaves a daughter at Lawrence, Las., and a son at Ames. It is expected the remains will be shipped to Ames for burial.
