Tuesday afternoon W. H. Shafer died a his home in Zearing aged 67 years. He had served as postmaster at that point twice, and was one of the band who took in the unpleasantness of '61-5, and carried with him marks of the various encounters in which he took part. Ye local can vouch for some of the close quarters in which he took active part. Peace to his ashes and a good place beside th pleasant heartstone that may be found in the great hereafter in the desire of all who know him. Of course he was buried by the G. A. R.
