From Story County Watchman August 31, 1900

A few days since Mrs. J. R. Dinsmore received a letter from Ochenden, Cal., giving an account of the death of Sim. Baxter, an old time resident of this locality, under date of August 7th. He was severely burned by a fire which caught in his barn, that he died on the 15th of July, having been suffering from the 7th of the same month. The older residents here will remember him and will be sorry to learn that the end has reached him as it will all of us, but in this instance the case is particularly sad owing to the cause.
