From Story County Watchman April 14, 1899

DIED--At the residence of Mr. H. C. Boardman in this city on Saturday morning last Mrs. Louise Hamilton Boardman, aged 23 years, after an illness of only two weeks. Deceased gave birth on Monday, 27 to a little son, and since the birth of the little one the mother has been very ill. Hopes were entertained, however, for her recovery until about 5 o'clock Friday evening when she became delirious, death following before she could be restored to consciousness. The funeral took place from the Lutheran church on Monday forenoon and was largely attended by our people and many from Ames, the services by Rev. Shrader. Deceased was married on Sept. 29th, 1897 to Mr. W. C. Boardman one of our prominent young men, whom she leaves with an infant child. Before her marriage she was deputy in the office of the county clerk of this county and enjoyed an extended acquaintance in all parts of this county, all of whom where shocked at the call thus early made upon this young life. To say that she stood high with our people is hardly doing justice since she bore a most excellent reputation for probity and character. She was a daughter of Chas. Hamilton of Ames whom she leaves as well as brothers and sisters to mourn her loss.
