DIED.--After a brief illness Mrs. M. E. Boynton passed away Friday evening, January 13, 1899. The announcement of her death came somewhat as a shock to the community as her illness was not alarming. The deceased had for many years lived in our midst and was highly respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends. She was of a genial disposition and possessed a mind well trained. For more than a score of years she taught in the public schools of Nevada and her influence upon youth of our city during all those years was helpful. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral services were held at the family home Monday forenoon, January 15. The services were largely attended and were conducted by the pastor of the Presbyterian church and Rev. W. P. Payne. The latter read a well prepared and appropriate paper speaking of her place and influence in the educational, social and church circles of Nevada during the more than a quarter century since coming to Nevada.
The following resolutions were passed:
Be it Resolved, by the Presbyterian Sunday School of Nevada, iowa, that in the death of Mrs. M. E. Boynton the Sunday school lost a faithful and earnest teacher and worker, and one whose Christian character was ever a source of inspiration to her co-workers, and whose influence was always helpful to her pupils and to those with whom she came in contact.
Be it further Resolved, that the sympathy of the members of the Sunday school is extended to her bereaved family in their hour of sorrow.
Be it further Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of the Sunday school and published in the city papers.
