From Story County Watchman February 25, 1898

Ames Watchman.

Norman Malom, living in the south-west part of town, committed suicide Wednesday afternoon by cutting his throat on the left side with his pocket knife. When found by hiw wife he was in serious condition. A physician was called and his wound dressed but of now avail, within two hours he was a corpse. He had been sick for some time and was scarcely able to be about at the time, which undoubtedly had much to do with the act.
