From Story County Watchman September 18, 1896

Collins Clipper: ....A representative citizen of this neighborhood and the father of an influential family, died in our city on Monday evening at 7 o'clock. Han Hanson was a type of hardy men that made the wilderness blossom as the rose, that brought to these virgin prairies the enterprise and indominable will that never gives up till life's journey is o'er. Two weeks ago he was on our streets with kindly greeting for everybody. But a little over a week ago he was compelled to take his bed, because of the severity of liver trouble....

In the same paper:

Maxwell Tribune: ....Mr. H. Hanson died at his home in Collins Monday evening. Mr. Hanson has been a resident of this county for a number of yearr and was held in high esteem by all who knew him and his death was received with sorrow....
